Flagger Certification/Traffic Control Technician Training

Per TDOT's 712.04-01 Specification, Certain Work Zone Activities and Lane Closures Require workers present to have taken approved classes. 

The most common courses and certifications are available through the following organizations.

1. American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA)

2. National Safety Council (NSC)

3. Tennessee Transportation Assistance Program (TTAP)

4. ABET Accredited University Programs

Additionally, TDOT has approved these courses and finds that they meet or exceed the requirements intended by section 712.04 of Standard Specifications.

If you represent a construction industry association, consultant organization, construction company or other private company and wish to have your internal or publicly
available courses considered as meeting TDOTs 712.04-1 Specification, please submit your course material for consideration. Include the course agenda, length, handouts, and any power point or presented material to Jason.Quicksall@TN.gov
