Applicants can now apply online, track the status of their commercial driveway application, and receive
electronic notifications. TDOT Highway Driveway supports all major internet browsers including Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. Chrome is the preferred browser. If any issues occur while using one browser, we encourage you to
switch to a different browser and try again. We recommend using a desktop or laptop computer to complete the registration and application process. You may also use a mobile device to access TDOT Highway Driveway.

What is TDOT Highway Driveway?
This is TDOT’s new Accela Citizen Access (ACA) portal where commercial driveway permits can be submitted
and issued using a web interface online, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
Do I need to use this process for residential driveway permits?
No, please contact your TDOT District Office for residential or field driveways. Contact information for residential permits can be found here.
Do I have to register for an account?
Yes, Registered Users can complete the application process online for a commercial driveway permit. Creating an account is free and easy. Visit TDOT Highway Driveway, click Register for an account and follow the prompts. Please see the “How to” tutorials for additional information.
How do I apply for a permit online?
You can apply for permits by visiting TDOT Highway Driveway, registering for an account, and uploading your permit application. Please note, an engineering checklist, site plan, and grading/drainage plans are required to submit a permit application. Please see the “How to” tutorials for additional information.
How do I check my application status, view comments, or requests for revisions?
You can check your application status, comments, or revision requests at any time by logging into your TDOT Highway Driveway account and reviewing the correct record. Please see the “How to” tutorials for additional information.
Can I start work if I entered my permit online?
You may NOT start work until AFTER your commercial driveway permit has been issued. You will receive an email notification through various steps of this process including when your permit is issued. Additionally, you can check the application or permit status at any time by logging into your account and reviewing the record. Please see the “How to” tutorials for additional information.
How do I schedule an inspection?
Once work has been completed as per the approved plan set, you may request an inspection by logging into your account, navigating to the appropriate permit, clicking on the dropdown arrow next to Record Info, and selecting Inspections. Please see the “How to” tutorials for additional information.
How do I manage my records?
Log in to your TDOT Highway Driveway account and click on My Records or do a search for your record number. After selecting the appropriate record, you can perform various tasks including viewing details, attaching additional documents, scheduling inspections, and more.
Can I submit my surety (bond or cashier’s check) through TDOT Highway Driveway?
In order to issue a commercial driveway permit, TDOT will still need the original hard copy to be mailed or
delivered to each Regional Traffic Office. Prior to delivery, a digital copy may be uploaded to the website to allow review and approval. TDOT Regional Traffic Office addresses are as follows:
