U.S Antibiotic Awareness Week
November 18-24, 2022
In partnership with the CDC, the State of Tennessee is observing U.S Antibiotic Awareness Week. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), United States Antibiotic Awareness Week (USAWW) is observed every year. The purpose of this week is to raise awareness and increase knowledge regarding the threat of antibiotic resistance and the importance of appropriate antibiotic use. Antibiotic stewardship -continuing to improve the way in which antibiotics are prescribed and utilized - is imperative to effectively combat the resistance of antibiotics, treat infections, and protect patients from harm and negative health impacts caused by unnecessary antibiotic use.
Messages for U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week:
U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week is an annual one-week observance that gives participating organizations an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of appropriate antibiotic use to combat the threat of antimicrobial resistance.
Be Antibiotics Aware, a CDC educational effort, complements U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week by providing partners with up-to-date information to help improve human antibiotic prescribing and use in the United States.
