Division of Mineral & Geologic Resources
The Division of Mineral and Geologic Resources is responsible for ensuring the environmentally sound management, protection and documentation of the state’s mineral, land and energy resources for all Tennesseans and future generations. DMGR is the administrative agent for key Tennessee Statutes, Rules, and Regulations: Water Quality Control Act, regulating discharges from mining activities into the surface waters in Tennessee (Water Pollution Control Rules) and Oil & Gas, regulating the production of oil and gas.
In addition, DMGR is responsible for protecting Tennessee's land resources through the Abandoned Mine Land Program administered by the Land Reclamation Section and documenting mineral and energy resources through the Tennessee Geological Survey.
You can access the Tennessee Code Annotated for the statutes above.
