  • AP Access for ALL Enters Second Year of Providing Free, Online College-Level Classes While Celebrating First Year Results

    NASHVILLE, TN - Today, the Tennessee Department of Education, in partnership with the Niswonger Foundation, highlighted the 2022 AP Access for ALL Annual Impact Report and the results of the first year of the program, which is providing free, online advanced placement courses for Tennessee high school students. More than 1,800 students signed up for classes this fall, an increase of more than 600 students from the 2021-22 school year.

  • Six Tennessee Schools Recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools

    NASHVILLE, TN—Today, U.S. Department of Education recognized six Tennessee schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2022. The recognition is based on each school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups.

  • TDOE Announces School and District Designations for 2021-22 School Year

    Monday, September 12, 2022 | 03:00pm

    NASHVILLE, TN — Today, the Tennessee Department of Education announced the school and district designations for the 2021-22 school year, which includes the highest performing schools and districts for academic achievement and student growth. Across the state, 427 schools spanning 92 districts received designation as a Reward school, and 16 districts received designation as an Exemplary district.

  • Tennessee Announces 2022-23 Principal, Supervisor of the Year Finalists

    NASHVILLE, TN— Today, the Tennessee Department of Education announced the nine finalists for the 2022-23 Tennessee Principal of the Year and nine finalists for Supervisor of the Year awards. The finalists represent each Center of Regional Excellence (CORE) region in the state, with three finalists in each Grand Division: West, Middle, and East.

  • TCAP Family Portal Now Includes Lexile Reader Levels for Students

    Nashville, TN— With the 2022-23 school year in full swing, the Tennessee Department of Education concludes the “Know More, Learn More TN” back to school campaign with an encouragement to all families to support their student’s reading progress by learning about their Lexile level. Newly added this week in the TCAP Family Portal, Lexile levels for each student provide parents and families with the information they need to support their student’s reading skills and find reading materials to match and further develop the student’s reading skills.

  • TISA Rules Move to Next Step Following Unanimous Positive State Board Recommendation

  • TISA Rulemaking Hearing on July 28 Open to Public to Respond to Proposed Rules
