The Office of Internal Audit is committed to supporting these priorities and work assigned to the Auditor 4 will directly contribute to the department’s strategic success.

Position Summary:  Under general supervision, the Auditor 4 position will be responsible for supervising teams of professionals to perform audits of the department of education, agencies, institutions, or schools. Assigned audits will include entities receiving state or federal funds to determine statutory compliance.  This position will be assigned to uniquely difficult engagements, such as fraud investigations and special requests from department senior leadership. The
Auditor 4 will also serve as an assistant director of internal audit.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Accounting or similar analytical focused business degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum five years of full-time increasingly responsible professional internal auditing experience required.
  • Professional certification(s) such as CPA, CFE, or CIA preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform work in conformance with IIA Red Book, GAGAS Yellow Book, and COSO Green Book standards.
  • Effectively evaluate and comprehend organizational structure, practices, policies, procedures, and regulations for planning and executing projects.
  • Brainstorm workflow and process improvements.
  • Create tailored work programs and develop effective substantive testing methods.
  • Establish and monitor progress against milestones / deadlines to ensure forward momentum of projects.
  • Analyze internal controls for adequacy; make recommendations for remediation.
  • Document and clearly communicate audit results via professionally written reports.
  • Assist with preparation and execution of annual risk-based audit plan.
  • Attend professional development and continuing education courses as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

The duties will primarily be conducted indoors, in environmentally controlled conditions. The employee will be required to perform general physical abilities and handle and move objects.

Physical Demands

Physical demands include walking, standing, bending, lifting, climbing stairs, and moving during working hours.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Expected work hours are 37.5 hours per week, from 8-4:30pm with an hour lunch break.
