Who Must Carry Insurance?

The Tennessee Workers’ Compensation Law requires certain employers to provide workers’ compensation insurance benefits. There are different requirements depending on the type of business you have. Generally speaking, businesses engaged in the construction industry are required to have workers’ compensation coverage for everyone including the business owners. Other businesses need insurance if there are five or more employees. 

Industries listed in the contracting codes list are considered construction services providers.
