The Legal Division is comprised of attorneys and support staff located in TDOT's headquarters and regional offices. The division provides a wide range of legal services to the Commissioner, his staff, and all divisions and regions. Services include preparation and review of contracts, grants, procurement documents, and right-of-way acquisition documents; representation of TDOT in administrative hearings; drafting and review of legislation, regulations and department policies; advice on regulatory requirements; assistance in employment matters; and coordination of responses to public records requests. The office works closely with the State Attorney General's Office in response to contract, tort, employment, and condemnation cases involving TDOT.
Proposed Final Rule Amendments – Control of Outdoor Advertising
After conducting two public hearings and giving careful consideration to extensive public comments, the Tennessee Department of Transportation has prepared proposed final rule amendments to Chapter 1680-02-03, Control of Outdoor Advertising [to be renumbered as Chapter 1680-06-03]. The proposed rule amendments, together with a summary of the proposed amendments and a redline version of the rule chapter as amended, may be viewed below.

The proposed rule amendments are currently under review by the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office and, upon approval, will be filed as final rules with the Tennessee Secretary of State’s Office. Within 90 days after filing, the proposed final rules will be presented to the General Assembly’s Joint Government Operations Committee for review.
